COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
Meeting Minutes – November 13, 2013

Next Meeting:   DECEMBER 11, 2013 (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE FROM 12/18 TO 12/11)
CPC MEETING:  (began at 7:07 pm)
Members Present:  Laura FitzGerald-Kemmett, Bob Sears, John Kemmett, Allan Clemons, Patty Norton, Joe Gamache, Bob Overholtzer and Bill Strait
Absent:  Kenny Mitchell
Guests:  Jim Flanagan and Scott Ripley
Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes:

Chair Report
Miscellaneous:
  • Committee reviewed and discussed the possibility of changing the CPC application.  Bob Sears handed out different samples; Committee to go through and bring feedback to the December’s CPC meeting.
  • Laura FitzGerald-Kemmett met with Ronald San Angelo, Town Administrator in November to go over existing projects and to give a review of CPC and its goals for 2014.
New Business:
Outdoor Recreation Area
There is a fund raiser taking place shortly, after which, Bob Rogers will give the committee a status of the Hanson Youth Baseball project.

WHRHS – Outdoor Fitness/Sports/Recreational Center (Open Space/General)

Old Business:
Camp Kiwanee
Jim Flanagan and Scott Ripley were present at tonight’s meeting to discuss options on improvements to Camp Kiwanee.  Although other projects have been presented to the committee; Jim and Scott wanted an overview of the process of obtaining funds for work on Camp Kiwanee and a healthy discussion took place between the committee members and them on what steps needed to be followed; where the CPC application/website were located and in general, how Conservation Preservation Committee rules/regulations work for the Town of Hanson.  Jim and Scott will go to the Recreations Commission for information in the next current week.


Thomas Mill Signs
Ongoing; printing companies and costs were discussed for any future projects.
Bonney House Project
Allan had confirmation from the contractor that beam work can be conducted in winter months, further discussions to take place.  He also heard from the Voch Tech School were the school was interesting in volunteering, so there is movement going forward; however, because of lead paint and needing a certified lead painter to do the work, there will be some labor costs – amount TBD.

  • Joe Gamache and Patty Norton to try and get a copy of the updated Masterplan and Capital Improvement matrix
  • Kenny Mitchell to meet with Parks and Fields to determine what priority projects the committee has for 2014
  • CPC to review sample applications provided by Bob Sears and come to next meeting prepared with thoughts and comments.
